About the Conference
The 5th International Symposium on Zinc Smelting, Recycling and Environmental Protection ranks among the world’s most influential technical‑focused events for the zinc sector. Taking place in Hengyang, Hunan Province (China), November 10‑13, 2026, this symposium is technically steered by the International Zinc Association (IZA), with Zhuzhou Smelter Group as co‑organizer.
As the world’s sole organization dedicated to safeguarding the interests of zinc and its users, IZA provides a forum for the zinc industry to analyze and anticipate issues affecting zinc globally and to ensure a timely and appropriate response. IZA’s mission is to provide global leadership, coordination, and value on strategic issues for the zinc industry, including market development, license to operate, communications, and sustainability.
Zhuzhou Smelter Group Co., Ltd. is a co-organizer of this conference. 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of Zhuzhou Smelter Group. As the cornerstone enterprise of China's zinc processing industry, it has witnessed the complete journey of China's zinc industry — growing from scratch and developing from weakness to strength. Hailed as the cradle of China's zinc processing industry, Zhuzhou Smelter has laid the industrial foundation for zinc processing technologies, comprehensive resource recovery and environmental governance in China. It has also cultivated a large pool of technical and management talents for smelters nationwide. Professionals from Zhuzhou Smelter are spread across major lead and zinc smelting bases in China, making tremendous contributions to the vigorous development of China's zinc industry.
Zinc is a critical strategic base metal underpinning new‑energy applications, infrastructure construction and corrosion protection. The global zinc industry is confronted with major headwinds: extended‑period negative smelting treatment charges, growing strategic importance of secondary zinc recycling and by‑product valorization, alongside green‑trade barriers including LCA, carbon permits and ESG compliance requirements. Meanwhile, innovations in clean smelting, intelligent equipment and artificial intelligence deliver viable pathways for low‑carbon transition and operational cost‑efficiency improvement.
This symposium will bring together senior technical experts and decision‑makers across the global zinc industry. Discussions will focus on advanced smelting technologies, secondary zinc recycling, by‑product valorization, environmental governance, low‑carbon & smart manufacturing, ESG and green‑trade regulations, benchmark plant case studies, as well as business opportunities for Chinese enterprises arising from global zinc‑industry trends.
Simultaneous Chinese-English interpretation will be provided.
