A study on the diffusion of chloride into concrete decks and its effects on service life within the state of Virginia’s six different climactic zones, conducted by Professor Richard Weyers of Virginia Tech University and sponsored by the International Zinc Association. The study found that hot dip galvanized reinforcing steel has the lowest cost of ownership for all combinations of deck cracking and environmental climate zones.
